Our History
In the mid-50s, Pasquale Spano worked as an apprentice plumber by day and took courses by night to achieve his goal of becoming a licensed Master Plumber in NYC. After reaching his objective, he founded Pat Spano and Sons Plumbing and Heating Inc.—a family-owned-and-operated company that has proudly served the city for more than four decades. Pat Spano and Sons did it all, from leaky toilet and clogged drain repair to rough-in plumbing for high-rise apartments throughout the city.
As young kids, Pat’s two sons, Richard and Steven, spent much time at their father’s plumbing office, tinkering with pipes and supplies and asking a lot of questions. As teenagers, they began their formal plumbing education, filling out job orders, preparing equipment, reviewing the day’s calls, and even heading out in the field. This early hands-on approach provided the boys with an impressive knowledge of all aspects of plumbing.
Richard and Steven followed in their father’s footsteps in the 1970s. They both learned the business and practical sides of the field, earning NYC Master Plumber licenses along the way. The knowledge and dedication inherited from their father is an invaluable tool in their career as plumbers.
After Pat’s retirement, Richard and Steven rebranded the company as Rooter Plus. Although it’s a new name, our company still offers the same reliability, professionalism, and high-quality services that we’ve delivered for decades.
